Unhappy Firmware 1.2 vs 1.4 CT ground problem

Hi all, I know this forum is wrapping up shortly but I'm trying to finish my project and am running into some issues.

I have 3 MidiCPU's chained together. When all are on Firmware 1.2 ... all MidiCPU's register CT's connected to ground except MidiCPU #1 is constantly outputting random Sysex;

When I upgrade all MidiCPU's to firmware 1.4, the random sysex output stops on MidiCPU # 1 ... but none of the MidiCPU's now register a CT to ground connection ...?!

When I (down)grade all MidiCPU's back to firmware 1.2 the exact same scenario results ... all MidiCPU's register CT to ground connection but MidiCPU # 1 is constantly outputting random sysex.

Visually it looks like nothing is shorting via the header pins or solder on MidiCPU #1

Using a DMM it looks like all CT's are receiving correct voltage (approx 5v)

All 3 MidiCPU's are daisy chained on DC power (approx 10-11V) and MidiCPU # 1 is the first to receive the power in the chain.

Next would be to change the order of MidiCPU's in the DC chain and see if a different MidiCPU (which would now be in the first position to receive power) starts outputting random sysex.

Any help appreciated : )
